Security

This painting was inspired by a trip to an Oakland A's game. A man yelling obscenities and spilling beer from one of his 32-ounce Super Size Tainer Cups on fans below him, encountered a wall of yellow-jacketed security guards, each with a dome of shiny shaved skin for a helmet. Each had an extra lump of flesh on the back of his thick neck and each had one purpose: to scour the stands of scum. Security by those who inspired fear caused me to ponder the word "security" and to be thankful it wasn't me who was dragged up the stadium steps with feet dangling like a netted crab out of its element, down into the tunnel. A cheer went up. Security.
